About Life Edit Photography

Life Edit Photography exists to preserve meaningful chapters of people's lives, not just create beautiful images.

Hi, I'm James

Photography has never been about creating perfect images for me. It’s about preserving the moments that shape our lives.

The places we return to again and again often become part of who we are. The trail where you got engaged. The mountain you climb every summer. The lake where your family spends long weekends. The overlook where you exchanged your vows.

These places become woven into our lives, and the memories we make there deserve to be remembered.

When I’m not photographing clients, you’ll usually find me hiking, backpacking, climbing, cycling, trail running, and sitting around the campfire with my friends and family.

My love for the outdoors naturally shapes how I approach photography.

Rather than treating nature as a backdrop, I help people become part of the places and moments they’re choosing to remember.

Why I offer Outdoor Photography

Changing weather, golden light, rugged trails, quiet forests, and wide-open landscapes all add depth, emotion, and meaning to your photographs.

Because I regularly hike, backpack, climb, trail run, and explore these environments myself, I’m comfortable working beyond traditional portrait locations. I know how to adapt to changing terrain, shifting light, and unpredictable weather while helping you feel confident and prepared throughout the experience.

I believe some of the best conversations happen on a trail, around a campfire, or watching the sun disappear behind the mountains. Those are the kinds of experiences that continue to inspire both my life and my work.

Whether your adventure is a short walk to your favorite overlook or an all-day mountain adventure, we’ll create something that feels authentic to you.

Why "Life Edit Photography?"

Life moves quickly. Seasons change. Relationships deepen. Adventures become memories.

Photography gives us a way to return to those moments long after they’ve passed.

To me, every meaningful experience becomes part of the story we’re writing throughout our lives, and Life Edit Photography strives to preserve those chapters before they become memories.

Life is made up of thousands of moments. Some are milestones we plan for, while others become meaningful when we least expect them. Photography gives us the chance to hold onto those moments before they quietly become memories.

My Appoach

The experience is just as important as the photographs.

I specialize in photographing people as they actively experience their lives rather than simply placing them in front of a beautiful background.

Movement, conversation, and genuine connection create photographs that feel natural because they are natural.

I’ll guide you every step of the way—from planning your location and choosing outfits to offering natural direction throughout the session—so you can relax, stay present, and enjoy the experience.

Authenticity Over Perfection

The best photographs aren't flawless. They're honest.
They capture the moments that couldn't be recreated, even if we tried.

Experience Over Transactions

You're not simply booking a photography session.
You're investing in an experience that becomes part of your story.

Connection Over Volume

I care more about creating meaningful experiences than rushing through another session on the calendar.
Your photographs should reflect who you are—not a formula.

Adventure Over Convenience

Some of the most meaningful places require us to slow down, explore, and embrace the unexpected.
Those experiences often become the memories we treasure most.

Respect for People & Nature

The landscapes we explore deserve the same care and respect as the people who choose them for life's biggest moments.

Let's Tell Your Story

The outdoors isn’t just a backdrop. It’s part of the story. Whether you’re celebrating your relationship, graduating, planning an intimate elopement, or simply wanting to preserve this season of your life, I’d love to create an experience that’s every bit as meaningful as the photographs themselves. Because years from now, I don’t want you to simply remember how everything looked. I want you to remember the laughter, the fresh mountain air, the quiet moments, and the feeling of being exactly where you wanted to be. Let’s use photographs to capture those moments.
